Locked Up: a Mother's Rage (1991)

Based on a true story, this is a routine drama, in which Cheryl Ladd tries to dump her glamorous image as a woman wrongly sent to jail who has to cope with life on the inside and the welfare of her children on the outside. Soon she's campaigning for better conditions in the prison in what is an occasionally interesting, if somewhat overwrought, tale. Co-star Angela Bassett was Oscar-nominated for her role as Tina Turner in Tina: What's Love Got to Do with It.
